Dementia friendly language

 "Please don't call us sufferers"

Many people diagnosed with dementia are living well and living life to the fullest of their capabilities. When the media, or people in general, label a person who has been diagnosed with dementia as being a 'Sufferer', it can be discriminating and can also imply that the person is helpless and a victim.

Communication in any language by any means whether it is spoken, delivered by email, text, social media or any other tool can be extremely powerful.
